I have been in the coaching, mentoring, leadership space for most of my professional career, spanning over four decades.

I’ve been placed in several leadership roles since a very young age. In the U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) I was a platoon leader for 52 recruits at 17 years old. Most of my professional life has been “entrepreneurial,” and I quickly moved up ranks to lead the team. I have always been in the business of creating opportunities, especially when I didn’t see one existed; taking an idea, building on it, and expanding it into reality, surrounding myself with good employees that embraced my vision and became extensions of myself, whether it was in my optical business, catering business, my diner, or even my farm.

In order to accomplish this continuity, you need to have the skills to communicate, to train and develop people. My approach is very “hands-on,” working alongside clients to ensure the standard I set is met. Whether I was leading or managing two employees or 38, being able to recognize skills, talents, tendencies, and knowing what will be a fit and what will be in alignment are essential skills in a leadership position.

Being able to recognize all the skills above, initiative, excellence, discipline, etc., has helped me have the tools in my toolbox to share with my clients. When they explain situations they are challenged with, I have most likely experienced some similar version or situation already in my professional career, which helps me shorten their learning curve. Having this experience, I can ask very specific and intentional questions to help them realize the opportunities that surround the situation for them to move forward.

When you are in the space of selling, competition always exists. Working hard to get the sale and hit your numbers can be a grind, when you get recognized for your efforts, it fills your cup for sure. I’ve been a President’s Club winner, Top District Manager in my region, voted Most Inspirational by my peers, recognized as a top contributor in my local community, and a top-producing farm. I have always made my way to the top somehow by figuring out how to make the most of the opportunities available to me, and I enjoy helping clients find that same passion in their own careers.

I love seeing my clients blossom and realize their potential! Nothing makes me prouder to be a coach than to help people realize their dreams, their true vision and goals for themselves, and then accomplish it! Seeing them become more confident, more intentional, aware, and implement some self-care while doing it is such a blessing. Getting to be a part of their own transformation that they choose is why I love what I do!

When clients say that they couldn’t have done it without me in their corner, it warms my heart. When clients’ efforts are designed, intentional, and deliberate based on what their vision is, and actually working towards that vision, then when they win and share this with their family and they “win” as a family, that’s the good stuff, and it’s really cool to be a part of that experience!

I give clients the time that is needed, which is usually more than they pay for. I show up for them and meet them where they are, in order to help them get the traction they need to feel progress. Sometimes that is one call a week for a while to help them make these gains. I am happy to do it, God has put them in my life for a reason, and I make sure I show up for them. It isn’t about the routine of two calls a month; it’s about what they need, and that’s what I give.

I’ve always wanted to give and share my experience to help others get to where they wanted easier, quicker, and to be a support system for them. I thrive when I serve, and I truly believe God has placed me with Southwestern to fulfill what He needs me to do to bring positivity into the world, one client at a time.
