About Camila Kong
Certified Student Coach Camila Kong is a passionate advocate for coaching youth and the arts. With a bicultural background and a B.A. in Communication Media, she combines her appreciation for visual storytelling with her love of impacting the next generation.
While a student at NC State University, she participated in the Southwestern Advantage summer sales and leadership program where she had the opportunity to be coached to learn about success principles and the basics of running her own business. During her college years she also worked as an after-school tutor and was a member of Lambda Pi Chi sorority.
After college, Camila moved to Los Angeles to pursue her goal of being a documentary filmmaker. She began volunteering as a youth leader which greatly expanded her love for students and deepened her desire to cultivate and inspire the next generation, both through mentorship and film.
One of Camila’s proudest accomplishments is directing and producing The Radiant Project, a collection of short documentary films profiling compassionate and empowering leaders. She filmed the series by journeying on a cross-country trip from California to New York with the mission to highlight goodness in the world, while inspiring and challenging its young audience to think critically. The films were screened at high schools and colleges followed by discussions where the audience engaged in meaningful conversations.
With an insatiable fascination with human psychology, Camila loves creating, teaching, and coaching from a place of authenticity. She works closely with a school in Southeast LA where she has taught documentary filmmaking. Camila is also a Career Labs instructor, a program that teaches about different career paths and higher education opportunities with a focus on developing a growth mindset.
Camila lives in Santa Monica, CA with her husband, Albert. Together they currently serve as the team leaders for the youth and family ministry at their church. Together, they run a production company and love being student coaches!
What is Student Coaching?
The Student Coaching program pairs students (ages 13-21) with a highly-trained student coach to hone in on their unique growth areas and equip them with the real-world skills they need to succeed, both inside the classroom and beyond. In addition to 1:1 coaching calls, they work together through training modules, assessments, videos, and more as part of our Student’s Edge curriculum. Parents are kept appraised of progress milestones with frequent progress reports.
