Meet Robert
Certified Student Coach Robert Harris graduated from San Diego State University with a degree in psychology and a minor in leadership. Robert is from San Francisco, where he graduated from Lincoln High school and earned numerous scholarships due to his athletic and community involvement. As a sophomore in high school, Robert started on the varsity team, and as a junior he was named a captain. He was heavily involved in his church and volunteer work helping the community through food drives and organizing various events with his family.
During his time at San Diego State, Robert worked with the Educational Opportunity Program, where he spent his team serving on the student advisory board that helped facilitate events and operations for students. He also served as a mentor for first-generational and low-income students to help them transition into college and advance their academic, personal, and professional plans.
Robert’s biggest accomplishment is graduating college debt-free and having various leadership experiences throughout college. Before becoming a Certified Student Coach, Robert was a full-time recruiter and Organizational Leader for Southwestern Advantage, where he recruited, taught, managed, and motivated first-time and experienced salespeople in leadership and personal development.
Growing up in San Francisco, Robert is huge 49ers, Giants, and Warriors fan. Robert loves the concept of growth, not only mentally but physically, so you can often find Robert at the gym or preparing for the next marathon. He loves to travel and go to concerts and festivals where his favorite artists perform. Robert’s favorite statement is from Aristotle, saying, “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, therefore, is not an act but a habit.” Robert truly believes that anyone can grow into the person they desire by creating the habits that center around whom they want to become.
What is Student Coaching?
The Student Coaching program pairs students (ages 13-21) with a highly-trained student coach to hone in on their unique growth areas and equip them with the real-world skills they need to succeed, both inside the classroom and beyond. In addition to 1:1 coaching calls, they work together through training modules, assessments, videos, and more as part of our Student’s Edge curriculum. Parents are kept appraised of progress milestones with frequent progress reports.
