About Kelsey
After graduating high school with honors, Kelsey attended Florida Atlantic University in sunny South Florida. There she graduated summa cum laude with a degree in Elementary Education and endorsements in reading and ESOL- an accomplishment she is very proud of. A big fan of the arts, Kelsey participated in musicals, choir shows, and international festivals all throughout her high school years. In college, she continued singing through her sorority and various philanthropic events.
While in college, Kelsey completed the Southwestern Advantage sales summer internship, where she finished number 39 out of nearly 2,000 first-year book dealers. She loved the challenge, opportunity for personal growth, and the valuable success principles she learned there. By the end of the summer, she had accomplished her goal to earn every award possible throughout the summer – a few of which included the Success Coin, Gold Seal Gold Awards, and I Wanna Win award. She is most proud of the Mom and Pop awards she earned where she dedicated her best weeks of the summer (up to that point) to each of her parents. She loved getting to present these awards to them at the end of the summer.
During college, Kelsey also served as a leader on various ministries within her church for students aged 18-29. In each of these ministries, Kelsey loved the opportunity to work with and serve people of all ages and backgrounds.
After college, Kelsey went on to work in the education field. She taught various elementary grades and also served as the Math Cadre for her Kindergarten team. Throughout her years in education, Kelsey was ranked a Highly Effective Educator according to the Marzano scale and earned the distinction of the highest level of reading growth grade-level wide, her first year of teaching.
After leaving the classroom, Kelsey started her own tutoring business where she tutored elementary students in all subjects, both internationally and domestically. The ability to work one-on-one with students was an aspect of her business she thoroughly enjoyed. She loved being able to teach her students the very same success principles she had learned through her Southwestern Advantage internship years earlier. Getting to witness her students’ growth in not just academics, but self-esteem, confidence, attitude, and the ability to work through challenges was a huge gift to her. Helping students grow in these areas is a huge passion of Kelsey’s, and something she hopes to continue to do for the rest of her life!
Originally from the Cayman Islands, Kelsey was bitten by the “travel bug” early on and loves to visit new places. So far, she’s visited Scotland, Ireland, England, Canada, Mexico, Colombia, and plans to keep adding to her list. She loves hiking, the beach trips, and lake days. She is also a huge foodie and will likely say “yes” to tacos any time she’s asked.
What is Student Coaching?
The Student Coaching program pairs students (ages 13-21) with a highly-trained student coach to hone in on their unique growth areas and equip them with the real-world skills they need to succeed, both inside the classroom and beyond. In addition to 1:1 coaching calls, they work together through training modules, assessments, videos, and more as part of our Student’s Edge curriculum. Parents are kept appraised of progress milestones with frequent progress reports.
