About Andrew
Andrew Hovelson comes from a unique background of art and business. He graduated from the Guthrie Theater Actor Training Program magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting. He also holds a Master of Fine Arts in Acting from New York University Tisch School of the Arts’ prestigious Graduate Acting Program, which accepts 1% of all applicants. Using sales skills he learned in summers selling books with Southwestern Advantage, Andrew negotiated a full tuition departmental fellowship in just under 10 days! Upon graduating from NYU, Andrew received the Laura Pels Award for potential in his field. A few of his unique and varied accomplishments include acting in three Broadway productions, over 50 off-Broadway productions, 10 national TV shows, owning NYC’s fastest-growing after-school enrichment company, running two high volume sports restaurants, and a short stint selling computers as Apple retail’s top overnight salesman in the world!
As a high schooler, Andrew led his football team to the state tournament and his basketball team to the state championship game. He was a member of the Minnesota All-State Choir, State Speech Champion, Student Body President, and an Eagle Scout. As a sophomore in high school, Andrew committed to blazing his own path which led to jobs painting propane tanks, keynote speaking, coaching flag football, milking cows, open-water lifeguarding, and his personal favorite, a summer as a lobsterman.
Andrew has a passion for students, education, and entrepreneurship. He is on a mission to deepen the human experience through art, storytelling, and mentorship. He currently lives with his wife and three young sons in an 800-square foot, one-bedroom apartment in Hell’s Kitchen, New York City, which he and his wife have aptly named “The Testosterone Factory.”
What is Student Coaching?
The Student Coaching program pairs students (ages 13-21) with a highly-trained student coach to hone in on their unique growth areas and equip them with the real-world skills they need to succeed, both inside the classroom and beyond. In addition to 1:1 coaching calls, they work together through training modules, assessments, videos, and more as part of our Student’s Edge curriculum. Parents are kept appraised of progress milestones with frequent progress reports.
