Meet Shelbye
ertified Student Coach Shelbye Hawkins has been an entrepreneur since before she was a teenager. Beginning at the age of 11, she worked with her parents to successfully build, scale, and sell a printing and graphics business in just five years. At 19, she worked under the wing of a franchisee owner, apprenticing as a salesperson and marketer. Now, she and her husband are scaling a row cropping farm while managing a one of the largest asphalt businesses in Middle Tennessee.
When Shelbye was in high school, she became a first responder. She fell in love with the servant-hearted industry of emergency services and became an advanced emergency medical technician. She served her community on a 911 ambulance working 90+ hours a week and loving every minute of it.
When Shelbye and her husband decided to start a family, she put aside the long EMS hours to invest in her children and step back into her entrepreneurial roots. As she focused on being an incredible wife, mother, and business partner, her passion for leadership blossomed. She began leading in youth ministry at her church, hosting a women’s book club, and became certified as a life and business coach and a neuro-linguistic programming practitioner.
Through her career in EMS, youth ministry, and as a mother, Shelbye recognized the large need in the next generation for mentorship and coaching. She is passionate about helping young people see their value, lean into their strengths, and develop confidence in themselves. With experience in a wide range of fields, she has the vast knowledge and real-world understanding required to be successful in business and in life.
Shelbye lives in Tennessee just one hour south of Nashville and loves reading and farming. In her spare time, she and her family love homesteading and are fascinated by 19th century farming practices.
What is Student Coaching?
The Student Coaching program pairs students (ages 13-21) with a highly-trained student coach to hone in on their unique growth areas and equip them with the real-world skills they need to succeed, both inside the classroom and beyond. In addition to 1:1 coaching calls, they work together through training modules, assessments, videos, and more as part of our Student’s Edge curriculum. Parents are kept appraised of progress milestones with frequent progress reports.
